MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Well it is coming to Christmas 2009. The time for family.
I did my first test wedding this year (In Dec) and learnt a lot. Location is the key. Lighting is the key. Scout the location! Bring more light. AND an assistant!!!
Hopefully next year there may be a few more to tackle. Photography has slowed down for us but hopefully next year will have a burst of renewed energy and projects will appear again soon.

Have a Very Merry Christmas and a good New year. We hope you all have a safe, great time.

Taskeng.exe appearing LOADS in Vista

If you happen to notice in a fully patched Vista machine in Task Manager, the process, taskeng.exe appearing loads of times.  Don’t worry.  This has beem bugging me for ages and finally found a fix.

Right Click on the “Computer” icon on your desktop and pick “MANAGE”

Expand the “Task Scheduler” bit on the left

Click on Task Scheduler Library

Click o the View menu top of the window and select “Show Hidden Tasks”

One will be called USER_FEED_SYNCRONIZATION-{…………}  That is the culprit.  Right click on it and select disable.

Reboot (easier than trying to kill the processes)

Keep an eye on it.

IPhone Users

Error reports from the server suggest that IPhone users are experiencing difficulty viewing the gallery.
Apologies for that.  I cannot test myself.  If ANYONE would like to donate one to me that would be super.

There may be an alternative application like Opera Mini or another browser derivitive that can be sourced for IPhone to allow this and other problem sites be viewed.  I know of other sites where some IPhones cannot post onto forums within sites.

If I hear of a fix I will of course impliment it as soon as I can.

Again, sorry if anyone has issues.  Let me know about them.

SLLLOOOWWWW Web access

JUST in case anyone visits and notices the site is slow the reason for that is because it is a residential internet connection used for other things other than this web hosting. Basically, I will be using it for downloads, streaming, surfing email etc as well as my web and email hosting. This is not a fault. I just don’t thing it is worth it as yet to host this in an online hosting company. (£25/yr I think).

Maybe in the future, there are more important things to wory about. So don’t panic.

Michael.

GalleryDigital Forums

GalleryDigital has just implemented a forums area for registered users to take advantage of It can be found in the menu bar above under “Discussions” or alternatively (if for some reason I messed up and it didn’t work) you can visit this link:

http://www.gallerydigital.co.uk/bbpress

Please, register with the site, go have fun and you can use this to communicate with others within GalleryDigital.
It is informal and friendly and intended for simple usage. Now, go have fun!
Any questions,please ask!

RSS added!

A link to the Gallery RSS feed has been created in the links section (just over there on the right).
This will enable you to check to see if there is ANY change to the gallery without having to go through every section. This can be bookmarked in your browser and with any RSS view software applications you have.

You can also get an RSS feed from each individual album and store that if that suits better. This will make it easier for anyone we have worked with expecting to see images, instead of continual messages txts etc informing of new pics, this will be an immediate updated status of the gallery.

It may be a little slow as it has to check for updates and it runs on a little computer.  As the site matures and there isnt much setting up needed then updates should be small and frequent which should speed up load times.
(The site may in the future end up in a more powerful, stable platform if the need arises)

We hope this improves the functionality of GalleryDigital.

NEWS

GD are in the mood for shooting.... contact for details!
GD gallery has been changed to safeguard (a little) the mass download of images. It also protects the system bandwidth allowing me to organise when the transfers take place. Not a bad thing. Just a little awkward. Sorry!!!
